"I love the water so I liked taking a ride on Chilika Lake, stopping on a beach and eating fresh fish. The trip was ostensibly to see dolphins, which I did see, but I see dolphins at home too. So the real enjoyment was just being out on the water on a terrific day.
"This is my second visit to Chilika Lake; the lake is simply spell binding. We drove up to the Satapada in a private vehicle from Puri. The distance is around 50 kms from Puri to Satapada by road. We took a boat to Chilika Lake from Satapada.
"Boating on Chilika Lake, located at Satpada some 90 mins drive from Puri , is an awesome experience . But one must be wary of those who sell pearls at very high prices, nearly 15-20 times their real worth . Although much advertised, dolphins are practically a " no show", you just get to see some tails or small backs.
"the Satpada section has Irawadi Dolphins which you can see from boats. But the tourism here is still in poor shape . the OTDC panthanivas is dirty .Has unclean toilets and dirty canteen with expensive and bad quality food. if you are a nature lover , i am sure you would love this place .
